IN MACEDONIAN LITERATURE OF 19TH CENTURY

The national as a relevant feature defines and orients the literary appearances, actions and results in the Macedonian literature of the 19th century. After the establishment and growth of the literature, constitution and affirmation of all the literary genres, the struggle for constitution of the Macedonian literary language began and fervorly intensified. In that complex, literature was the most convincingly reflected as part of the entire existence of Macedonia and its fight for acquiring its national and social rights and freedom. The project comprises of research of the novel (Vasil Tocinovski , Ph.D.), enlightening and revolutionary activities of Vasil Diamandiev (Natasha Avramovska, Ph.D.), monograph of Trajko Kitanchev (Valentina Mironska-Hristovska, Ph.D.) and the national and ethnic stereotypes in certain work of the Macedonian oral literature (Ana Martinoska, M.A.) (top)
MACEDONIAN LITERARY LEXICON

The realisation of the project Macedonian literary lexicon is being completed by a team of 22 research fellow, eminent and distinguished experts in the proposed subject matter. The project involves nearly all the research fellows from the Institute of Macedonian literature in Skopje, in addition to other research fellows and university professors from the Philological faculty “Blazhe Koneski” in Skopje and the Institute of folklore “Marko Cepenkov” acting as external associates. The object of the research are lexicographic units from the medieval Macedonian literature, Macedonian folk literature, Macedonian literature of the 19th century, Macedonian literature of the first half of the 20th century, contemporary Macedonian literature, as well as issues from the domain of theory of literature and comparative literature. An appropriate research methodology is being used, which affixes all the relevant facts from the Macedonian literary history and subsequently they are processed and systematised according to the firm standards of the lexicographical method. That enables presentation of the features and the significance of the Macedonian literature through important factography, plus its continuity reached through numerous phases of historical, political, social and cultural conditions. The project deals with significant persons, opuses, processes, phases and actions in the growth of the Macedonian literature from its beginning till today.
In the first phase of this project (2000-2002) app.600 units were completed. Regarding the significance, complexity and the fundamentality of such an undertaking, Institute of Macedonian literature brought a decision, approved by the Ministry of education and science, to continue to the second phase with duration of three years (2004-2006). It is done with intention for further detailed research and complementing the material with another 400 units without whom a complete and realistic reflection of the growth and the continuity of the Macedonian literature from its beginning till today won’t be possible. LITERARY SPACES – “OUR’ AND “FOREIGN” IN THE CONTEMPORARY

The project is contemplated as intensifying of the comparative research of the Department of theory of literature and comparative literature, which are performed from the start of its foundation. Initially, comparative prism and comparative methodology are being used to embrace various segments of the Macedonian contemporary literature. The participants in the project contribute with separate project themes, coordinated regarding the global project context and interest. The crucial three year topics in the project are: Literary-poetic transitions, researched by Aleksandar Prokopiev, Ph.D., The artistic travel book in the contemporary Macedonian literature researched by Sonja Stojmenska-Elzeser, Ph.D. and The corpus of the speech by Natasha Avramovska, Ph.D. The project also included one year project assignments of Jovanka Stojanovska-Drugovac, Ph.D. with the theme Asen Kavaev- writer and intellectual in various cultural and literary settings and Afrim Redjepi, Ph.D. with Narrative figure - space in the novel.
